Spinal Energetics™, developed by Dr. Sarah Jane Perri, is a refined, body-based modality that works with the spine, nervous system, and energetic field — supporting the release of deeply held tension and restoring a natural state of balance.

Over time, the body can store layers of stress, tension, and unresolved experience. These patterns often sit beneath conscious awareness, shaping how you move, respond, and carry yourself day to day.

Using gentle touch — and at times no physical touch — this work supports the body in releasing what it has been holding. As the nervous system begins to settle, the body may naturally unwind, creating space for greater ease, clarity, and connection.

Rooted in both Eastern and Western philosophies, informed by traditions that recognise the body as more than purely physical, this work acknowledges the emotional, mental, and behavioural layers that shape how tension is stored and experienced over time.

Spinal Energetics offers a sophisticated approach to wellbeing — one that works with the body, restoring balance, alignment, and deeper connection to your authentic self.

The Experience

Sessions are gentle, intuitive, and led by your body

Using light touch — and sometimes no touch at all — the nervous system is invited to shift out of holding patterns. As this happens, the body may begin to unwind through subtle or spontaneous movement, changes in breath, or vocal release.

For some, the experience is deeply restful. For others, it can feel like a gradual unwinding of long-held tension.

Nothing is forced or directed. The process is responsive, allowing your system to move in the way it needs to.

A Process, Not a One-Off

While many people feel a shift after their first session, Spinal Energetics works cumulatively.

As your body becomes familiar with the process, it begins to respond more easily — allowing for deeper and more lasting change over time.

A block of  3 or 6 treatments is the gold standard, supporting a more complete shift in how the nervous system holds and releases tension.

Rather than trying to fix or override the body, this work collaborates with it.

By reducing resistance within the nervous system, the body is able to reorganise itself more efficiently — creating the conditions for lasting change, rather than temporary relief.

This is a quieter, more intelligent approach to wellbeing — one that honours your body’s natural rhythm.

Spinal Energetics Session

Choose between an initial 60 or 75min session

60 Minute Session £120

A 60-minute session offers focused, effective time for the body to settle, release tension, and restore balance. It is well suited for regular sessions or for working with specific areas of holding.

75-Minute Session £150

A 75-minute session offers a more spacious and unhurried experience, allowing the body to soften more deeply and integrate the work on a fuller level. The additional time creates space to explore presenting issues with greater depth and attention, while also allowing for the inclusion of Reiki and the application of essential oils on acupoints — supporting both physical release and energetic balance.

Sessions take place in a calm, private setting — either at Oru Space Wellbeing in East Dulwich or in Anja’s home studio in leafy Nunhead.

You may experience:

  • Emotional or physical release

FAQs

  • Every person’s experience is unique.

    Some people may not move at all — stillness is just as valid. Others may take a few sessions to open up to the process, while some may move freely from the beginning. There is no right or wrong way to experience a session.

    It’s important to note that the amount of movement does not determine the depth or benefit of the work.

    You may experience:

    • Spontaneous movement (stretching, shaking, yoga-like poses) 

    • Vocal release 

    • Visuals or imagery 

    • Resistance 

    • A sense of calm, peace or sleep 

    If you are new to this kind of work, it can take a few sessions to fully connect with your body. Regular sessions, alongside practices such as breathwork or yoga, can help deepen this mind – body connection.

  • While many clients feel a shift after their first session — often describing a sense of clarity, lightness, and “more space to be themselves” — this work is most effective over a short series.

    Spinal Energetics works cumulatively. As your body becomes more familiar with the process, it is able to release more deeply held patterns.

    Much like building strength in the body, lasting change takes time and consistency.

    Once you’ve experienced your first session and feel comfortable, continuing with a package of 3–6 sessions is recommended. This allows your nervous system to integrate the work more 

  • It is recommended to begin with at least 3 sessions.

    This allows your body time to adjust to the work and receive the full benefit of the treatment. Packages of 3 or 6 sessions are available at a discounted rate, with additional concessions for NHS workers, carers, and those living with chronic conditions.

  • This will vary for each individual.

    In the beginning, having sessions closer together can help build a strong mind–body connection and deepen your awareness. If you are working with a specific issue, consistency is key — this may look like weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly sessions.

    As balance is restored and ease replaces tension, you may feel a sense of resolution around what initially brought you in. From this place, you’ll become more attuned to your body’s signals. Your body will naturally guide you to return for future sessions when support is needed.

  • Many clients experience a sense of lightness, spaciousness, and a deeper flow within the body.

    Each session is unique. We meet your body exactly where it is in that moment, allowing the experience to unfold naturally.

    You may experience:

    • Emotional release — such as laughter or tears 

    • Energetic sensations — including heat, coolness, tingling, or gentle movement 

    • Deep relaxation — a sense of calm, peace, and inner stillness 

  • Spinal Energetics is not recommended during the first or final trimester of pregnancy.

    During the second trimester, sessions may be offered using a very gentle, adapted approach, always guided with care and tailored to your body.

    If you are pregnant at any stage, Reiki is a beautiful alternative. It is a deeply calming and supportive treatment with no known contraindications, and can be safely received throughout all trimesters.

    • Online Spinal Energetics sessions offer the same depth and effectiveness as in-person work.

      Because this work engages the nervous system and energetic field, it is not dependent on physical proximity. Your body responds through awareness, attention, and its own natural intelligence — wherever you are.

      Online sessions are ideal if you are unable to travel or prefer to receive the work within the comfort of your own space.

      What to Expect

      We will meet on zoom, sessions are calm, spacious, and guided at your own pace.

      You will be gently supported through simple breath and subtle awareness, while the practitioner works intuitively with your system — sensing areas of tension or holding and allowing space for the body to begin releasing what it no longer needs to carry.

      As the session unfolds, you may notice subtle shifts within the body, changes in breath, or a gradual unwinding. For some, the experience is deeply restorative; for others, it brings a quiet sense of clarity, lightness, and release.

  • Spinal Energetics within a group setting creates a powerful environment for shared healing.

    The collective energy can enhance each individual experience, often amplifying shifts while fostering a sense of connection and support. It is also a beautiful way to connect with others on a similar path.

  • Wear anything comfortable and easy to move in. The most important thing is that you feel relaxed and at ease during your session.

  • There is nothing you need to “do” between sessions.

    Your body will continue to integrate naturally. You may, however, find it helpful to journal, spend time in nature, or simply notice what is arising.

    Staying well hydrated and maintaining supportive practices such as yoga, breathwork, or meditation can deepen your connection to the work.

  • After your session, allow space for rest and integration.

    Hydrate well, eat nourishing food, and if possible, spend time in nature. Gentle practices such as yin yoga or breathwork can support the body as it continues to process and integrate the work.
